In year 2000, I didn't know the first thing about designing or programming a web site. Since it was still too early to learn these skills in design school, I figured the best way to learn was to make up a project. I created a site that showcased the work of my artist, photographer, and designer friends. Over time, we added a news feed that provided daily banter from a handful of news contributors. The site lasted until about 2004 and went through dozens of designs.
